Magnificent 18th c. Carved, Gilded & Painted Fragment of the Crest of the City of Leiden

$6,500.00

SHIPPING NOT INCLUDED IN SALE PRICE

This monumental fragment puts on a fabulous visual show. Its great size (57” w x 30” h x 8” d) commands attention and the beefy eye hooks on the reverse allow for safe hanging. The great carved wood crest is as old as America and has many dings and bumps as a result. Still, it’s got at least another quarter of a millennium of good show left. Purchased at Sotheby’s Paris auction of the Marian Dreesman-van den Spek Collection. Note in situ photo of fragment at the residence.
